What is Kapital?
Kapital is the student guild representing Industrial Engineering and Management students at LUT University’s Lahti campus. The guild brings together students interested in technology, business, and leadership, creating a strong community that supports both academic success and student life.
Kapital was founded on 17.11.2023 and operates as a non-profit student association based in Lahti, Finland. Its purpose is to unite students of Industrial Engineering and Management, promote their interests within the university, and connect them with industry and professional communities.
Our Mission
Kapital works to support students both academically and socially. The guild aims to:
- Maintain and develop Finnish Teekkari culture and student traditions in Lahti
- Represent the interests of Industrial Engineering and Management students at LUT University
- Improve the quality of education through student feedback and collaboration with the University
- Strengthen connections between students, companies, and alumni

What do we do?
Kapital organizes a wide range of activities throughout the academic year, including:
Student Events: Social gatherings, sitsit (academic dinner parties), sports activities, and other events that help students build friendships and networks.
Company Collaboration: Company visits, recruitment events, and networking opportunities allow students to connect with potential employers and learn about career paths in the industry.
Academic Support: The guild helps students navigate their studies and provides information related to courses, study opportunities, and university life.
Community and Culture: Kapital promotes Finnish student traditions and the Teekkari spirit, creating a strong sense of belonging among students.

Alumni Network
The alumni of Kapital are part of the wider alumni community organized through Kaplaaki Alumni ry. You can join our Alumni organisation already during your studies even before graduation.
Kaplaaki Alumni connects graduates of Industrial Engineering and Management from LUT University and maintains strong relationships between former students, current students, and industry professionals. For students in Kapital, the alumni network provides an important link to the professional world and helps strengthen the long-term Industrial Engineering and Management community.

Minttu
Finally, let us introduce you to our guild mascot, Minttu. Minttu the polar bear serves to represent Kapital. At sitz parties and student events, Minttu is more than just a mascot; a beloved companion, joining us in celebration and fun. But, Minttu is not only about fun and games; Minttu embodies Industrial Engineering and Management students’ resilience, strength, and friendship that is present throughout our guild.
Organization and Governance
Kapital is led by a board elected by its members, which manages the guild’s activities, partnerships, and events. The board is responsible for representing the guild, organizing operations, and ensuring that the association operates fairly and transparently.
